Julie-Ann is the creative force behind luxury British head wear label MURRAY. Taking a tenacious change of direction from her career as a high street fashion designer Julie-Ann has turned a life-long passion for womenswear into creating a high end millinery business, Transforming her love of womens design into a debut collection of unique and limited edition headpieces which celebrate the beauty of women and honour individuality. Julie-Ann has a background in fashion design and pattern cutting. After graduating in 2001 Julie-Ann has been producing successful collections for the high street where she developed a strong eye for trends, style and visual detail. However designing for the high street was unfulfilling as mass production of her styles from India and China was something which never sat comfortably with her. Julie-Ann believes in individuality and reflects this belief by creating unique styles and providing a bespoke service for private clientele. Julie-Ann aims to go above and beyond merely ‘selling fashion’ to help each and every woman look stunningly beautiful and provide a personal service from her home studio in Berkshire where clientele are always treated with respect, honesty and integrity.

Julie-Ann is passionate about fashion. Her heart and soul go into creating each collection from the smallest stitch to the bigger picture of art directing each fashion shoot and the brand development of the label. It is always important that Julie-Ann is in creative control in order to execute her unique vision however she enjoys the artistic process of working with like minded people such as photographers, hair stylists and make-up artists.

Julie-Ann is determined to blaze a trail through the male dominated world of high end millinery. With many of the top milliners of today’s fashion scene being male there seems to be a distinct lack of fashion savvy female hat makers out there. There are a many women milliners although most of them seam to be detached from current fashion trends. Trained with a Batchelor of Arts in fashion design and not traditionally a milliner Julie-Ann’s fashion background gives her a unique perspective which differentiates her from other female hat makers.

After gaining an apprenticeship at the age of 15 with a bridal wear designer Julie-Ann’s love of fashion was cemented and she went on to train at Northampton College before relocated to Berkshire at the age of 18 to study at the Oxford Brookes University, Berkshire School of Arts. Julie-Ann went on to design successful collections for the high street.

In January 2008 Julie-Ann was selected as one of the up and coming design talents chosen to take part in the most recent series of Project Catwalk the competitive fashion design competition for Sky One hosted by Kelly Osbourne and mentored by internationally renowned designer Ben de Lisi with Judges including Grazia magazine editor Paula Reed and celebrity life stylist Nick Ede.

Leaving the series early on gave Julie-Annthe extra tenacity needed to start work on her dream of running her own fashion label MURRAY where she now wishes to inject a feminine touch into the world of millinery.
